Mediterranean Half Marathon 2027

The start line inside the Canal Olímpic, the seafront of Castelldefels stretching towards Barcelona and Gavà and the Mediterranean at your side for kilometres: the Mediterranean Half Marathon is one of the classic spring road races around Barcelona. On Sunday 2027-04-25 it celebrates its 22nd edition, continuing a story that began in 2005 at the same venue, when more than 4,000 runners took part in the first edition. General information: the race is organised by Zona Vip Events in Castelldefels, with official Championchip timing and a course homologated by the Catalan Athletics Federation. It is open to runners aged 18 or over, and 16 and 17-year-olds can take part with signed permission from a parent or guardian, presented with a copy of their ID at bib pickup. Accident insurance is included in the entry fee. As well as the individual race, there is a pairs option, in which two runners must complete the 21 km together, pass every control and cross the finish line at the same time. Distance and course: the distance is 21.097 km on an almost flat road course with two loops, starting and finishing at the Canal Olímpic de Catalunya. The race begins with a lap of the canal, about 2.7 km completely flat, then heads along Avinguda del Canal Olímpic, Carrer Aragó and Avinguda de la Pineda to the seafront, with an out-and-back section between Castelldefels and the Barcelona side. Runners return over the bridges on Carrer 11 and Carrer 17 across the C-31, including the short but steep Disset bridge, and go back into the canal. The second loop repeats the canal and the seafront, extending towards Gavà through Carrer Sitges, Carrer Cubelles and Carrer Alcanar, before the final 330 m from the canal entrance to the finish. The only real climbs are the bridges, around km 5.3, 8.6, 15.1 and 19.7. Why this race is special: it combines a fast, flat course with the sea breeze, the Olympic venue of the 1992 Games and a family atmosphere, with a fideuà party after the race. It is a great spring half marathon for a personal best, only a short train ride from Barcelona. In 2024 Carles Montllor won in 1:09:51 and Elisabeth Martín in 1:24:18. Schedule and start corrals: the start is at 09:45 on 2027-04-25, and the time limit is 2 hours 45 minutes. There are three start corrals (cajones) assigned by recent official times; to move up a corral, ask at bib pickup with proof of a time from an FCA-homologated race in the last two years. Pacers will run at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30 min/km, and a pace car with a clock leads the race. Prize-giving for the half marathon is between 11:45 and 12:00. Bib pickup and expo: bibs and runner's bags are collected at the Fira del Corredor in the Ànecblau shopping centre (Avinguda del Canal Olímpic 24, Castelldefels) on Friday 2027-04-23 in the afternoon and on Saturday 2027-04-24 during the day, and on race day from 07:15 to 09:00. The organiser recommends collecting before race day, and changes and incidents are only handled on Friday and Saturday.
