Bibs Half Marathon Barcelona
About the race
The Barcelona Half Marathon is one of the city’s major sporting celebrations and one of the most crowded half marathons in Europe, with 36,000 bibs that sell out in record time every year. It is a race that crosses Barcelona from end to end and has become the best way to discover the city if you have never visited it, combining sport, sightseeing and a truly unique atmosphere. The whole city embraces its half marathon, creating a vibrant experience that attracts runners from all over the world and has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. The course is especially lively thanks to the many music spots, DJs, running clubs, gyms and groups linked to sports brands that gather along the route to cheer on the runners. Throughout the 21 kilometres you can see creative messages in every language imaginable, reflecting the enormous diversity of participants. In recent years, shakerunning sessions have become extremely popular, transforming the atmosphere of the Barcelona Half Marathon throughout the entire weekend. These meetups bring together runners from all over the world in iconic locations such as the beach, Port Olímpic or Arc de Triomf, combining easy runs with music, speakers, photographers and a festive vibe. The city fills with energy from Friday onwards, turning the race weekend into a collective celebration of sport and music that goes far beyond Sunday’s 21 kilometres. The course of the Barcelona Half Marathon is one of its greatest attractions, passing through emblematic locations such as Arc de Triomf, Torre Glòries, Parc de la Ciutadella, Port Olímpic, the seafront and the beaches, as well as Avinguda Paral·lel and Plaça d’Espanya. It is a route that showcases modern Barcelona, open to the sea and full of energy. Besides being a spectacular course, it is also a fast race. With an average positive elevation gain of only 30 metres, it has become a favourite for runners aiming to achieve a personal best or for those debuting in the distance. Despite taking place in February, Barcelona usually offers ideal weather conditions for fast running. The race is part of the Plátano de Canarias National Running Circuit, which further reinforces its prestige. The Barcelona Half Marathon is also a deeply international race. It is estimated that 60% of participants are foreigners or non-residents in Spain, and around 25% are women, making it one of the races with the highest female participation in the country. This diversity is reflected in the atmosphere, the cheering messages and the energy felt in every kilometre. Registrations for the 2027 edition opened in April 2026 and the 36,000 bibs sold out in less than a week, something that has already become tradition. It is a highly sought-after race throughout the year and, for those who cannot secure a bib, there is always the option of using Bibready, where many runners who are unable to attend offer their bibs for an official transfer. For those cheering on family or friends, one of the best spots is kilometre 8, from where it is easy to move towards the final section of the course and arrive in time to welcome them near the finish line. Thanks to the official Barcelona Half Marathon app, it is also very easy to follow the runner’s progress in real time. The finish at Arc de Triomf is one of the most emotional moments of the race and an unforgettable memory for both runners and supporters. If you were unable to secure a bib when registrations opened, you can activate alerts on Bibready and you will receive a notification when a runner who cannot attend is interested in transferring their bib.
