About the race
Running 42 kilometres among vineyards, wineries and the historic centre of Jerez, with wine at the aid stations: the Sherry Marathon is one of the most original marathons in Spain. It covers the city and the "sea of vines" of the Marco de Jerez, the home of sherry. General information: - The 2027 edition takes place on the weekend of 2027-04-17 and 2027-04-18, together with the Sherry Bike. The running race is on Sunday 2027-04-18 in Jerez de la Frontera. - It is organised by Terraincognita and is part of the Sherry Classics. - In 2022 the 5th edition brought together about 1,800 athletes from up to 28 countries. - Runners must be 18 or over on race day. - Categories are Absolute, Promesas, Senior, Veterans, Master 50, Master 60 and Clubs, with trophies for the top three in each. Why it is special: - Few races combine sport, landscape and wine tourism like this one. You run among the white albariza vineyards of the Marco de Jerez and past historic wineries. - At several aid stations you can taste wine and local products. - It finishes at the Alameda Vieja, next to the Alcázar and the Cathedral. - It attracts runners from all over the world and is an excellent way to get to know Jerez. Course: The race covers 42.195 km with about 552 m of elevation gain, starting and finishing at the Alameda Vieja in central Jerez. The first kilometres run through the main streets of the old town. The course then heads into the vineyards of the Marco de Jerez, past emblematic vineyards and their vineyard houses, and the last kilometres return to the city past the main wineries. There are 7 aid stations: Bodega Luis Pérez (km 5.7 and 35.6), La Trinidad–Covijerez (km 12.4 and 31.4), Viña Canariera–González Byass (km 19.7), Macharnudo (km 25.8) and Bodega Valdespino (km 39.4). They offer water and sports drink, and several also have fruit, wine and local products. The official website publishes the GPX track and course map. Timetable: The start is at 08:00 on Sunday 2027-04-18 from the Alameda Vieja, and the start corral opens at 07:30. The time limit is 6 h 30 min. Each aid station has a closing time: AV1 at 08:45, AV2 at 09:40, AV3 at 10:50, AV4 at 11:50, AV5 at 12:35, AV6 at 13:00, AV7 at 13:30 and the finish at 14:30.
