Sherry Half Marathon 23K 2027

Wine, vineyards and wineries in a different kind of half distance: the Sherry Half Marathon 23K runs through central Jerez and the "sea of vines" of the Marco de Jerez, with tastings of local products at the aid stations. It is a unique way to discover sherry country on foot. General information: - The 2027 edition takes place on the weekend of 2027-04-17 and 2027-04-18, together with the Sherry Bike. The running race is on Sunday 2027-04-18 in Jerez de la Frontera. - It is organised by Terraincognita and is part of the Sherry Classics. - In 2022 the 5th edition brought together about 1,800 athletes from up to 28 countries. - Runners aged 16 or over on race day can take part. - Categories are Absolute, Promesas, Senior, Veterans, Master 50, Master 60 and Clubs, with trophies for the top three in each. Why it is special: - Few races combine sport, landscape and wine tourism like this one. You run among the white albariza vineyards of the Marco de Jerez and past historic wineries. - At several aid stations you can taste wine and local products. - It finishes at the Alameda Vieja, next to the Alcázar and the Cathedral. - It attracts runners from all over the world and is an excellent way to get to know Jerez. Course: The organiser lists it at 23 km (other sections of the website say 21 and 22 km), with about 241 m of elevation gain, starting and finishing at the Alameda Vieja. The course leaves Jerez, heads into the vineyards of the Marco de Jerez, passes its main wineries and returns to the Alameda Vieja. There are 4 aid stations: Bodega Luis Pérez (km 5.7 and 16.6), La Trinidad–Covijerez (km 12.4) and Bodega Valdespino (km 20.5). They offer water and sports drink, and at km 12.4 and 20.5 also fruit, wine and local product tastings. There is solid food at the finish. The official website publishes the GPX track and course map. Timetable: The start is at 09:00 on Sunday 2027-04-18 from the Alameda Vieja, and the start corral opens at 08:30. The time limit is 5 hours, and the finish closes at 14:30. Registration and prices: registration is on RockTheSport and is open until 2027-04-11. - 33 € until 5 March. - 38 € until registration closes. - A management fee is added to these prices. - Cancellation insurance costs 8 € and refunds 100% up to 15 days before. - Without insurance, 50% is refunded up to 30 days before. Bib pickup: bib collection is at IFECA (Palacio de Congresos, Paseo de Sementales) on Friday from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, on Saturday from 17:00 to 20:00 and, for those who cannot come earlier, on Sunday from 07:00 to 08:30. Someone else can collect it with an express authorisation and a photocopy of the holder's ID. No expo as such has been announced; bib pickup at IFECA is the pre-race meeting point. Recommended gear: a charged phone, your own cup (there are no cups at the aid stations), containers for at least 1 L, sunglasses, sunscreen, mineral salts and some food. The bib must be worn visibly on the front. Bib exchange: bibs are personal and non-transferable, but the organiser allows a name change up to 15 days before (2027-04-03) for 5 €. You request it by email and complete a form within 7 days. If there is an official waiting list, the change is not possible: released places go to that list. Alternatives to get a bib: register before 5 March to pay less. If bibs sell out, join the official waiting list and the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert.
