About the race
A vineyard race made for enjoying: the Sherry Promo 14K starts at Finca Macharnudo, in the heart of the Marco de Jerez, and finishes in the city centre after passing several wineries. The organiser describes it as a race "of lower physical demand", perfect for discovering sherry country by running, walking or Nordic walking. General information: - The 2027 edition takes place on the weekend of 2027-04-17 and 2027-04-18, together with the Sherry Bike. The running race is on Sunday 2027-04-18 in Jerez de la Frontera. - It is organised by Terraincognita and is part of the Sherry Classics. - In 2022 the 5th edition brought together about 1,800 athletes from up to 28 countries. - Anyone aged 16 or over on race day can take part. There is a promotional Hiker and Nordic Walking category. - Categories are Absolute, Promesas, Senior, Veterans, Master 50, Master 60 and Clubs, with trophies for the top three in each. Why it is special: - Few races combine sport, landscape and wine tourism like this one. You run among the white albariza vineyards of the Marco de Jerez and past historic wineries. - At several aid stations you can taste wine and local products. - It finishes at the Alameda Vieja, next to the Alcázar and the Cathedral. - It attracts runners from all over the world and is an excellent way to get to know Jerez. Course: The race covers about 14 km (14.6 km according to the aid station table), with 136 m of elevation gain and 197 m of loss. It is a point-to-point course from Finca Macharnudo to the Alameda Vieja in central Jerez, sharing the marathon's route through the vineyards and several wineries. There are 3 aid stations: La Trinidad–Covijerez (km 4.1), Bodega Luis Pérez (km 8.3) and Bodega Valdespino (km 12.1). They offer water and sports drink, and the first and last also have fruit, wine and local product tastings. There is solid food at the finish. The official website publishes the GPX track and course map. Timetable: The start is at 10:30 on Sunday 2027-04-18 from Finca Macharnudo, and the start corral opens at 10:00. The time limit is 3 h 30 min, and the finish closes at 14:30. A free bus runs from the Alameda Vieja to the start between 08:30 and 09:15; no buses leave after that, and there is no parking at the start. Registration and prices: registration is on RockTheSport and is open until 2027-04-11. - 28 € until 5 March. - 32 € until registration closes. - A management fee is added to these prices. - Cancellation insurance costs 5 € and refunds 100% up to 15 days before. - Without insurance, 50% is refunded up to 30 days before.
