The Murcia Marathon runs entirely through the city's urban center, on a profile the organizers and every runner's guide describe as completely flat, with no notable elevation change. The start is near Glorieta de España, by the Town Hall, and the route runs along wide boulevards through the city center and east side, passing near landmarks like Murcia Cathedral (with its 90-meter bell tower), the Casino and the Palacio Almudí. The marathon and half marathon share the same route up to km 15, after which the courses diverge.It runs through the historic, monumental heart of a city surrounded by fertile farmland (the Huerta de Murcia), with the Segura river running close to the route, and the finish line right in the historic center, next to the Cathedral. Early-February weather in Murcia tends to be mild (10-20°C), ideal for peak performance. The course is explicitly designed for chasing personal bests, and holds World Athletics LABEL certification on both the marathon and half marathon distances, as well as a place on the WA Global Calendar.Bib collectionThe bib/chip is only handed out at the locations and times announced by the organizers ahead of the race (normally not on race day itself, except by prior email authorization). A third party can collect it with a copy of the bib holder's ID and the registration locator code. The bib must be worn visibly on the front throughout the race; transferring your bib to someone else without the organization's knowledge voids it, and anyone racing under someone else's identity forfeits all rights, including medical insurance coverage.An interesting detail: the start is organized into corrals based on the estimated finish time you declare at registration. If you're aiming to break 2:30 (men) or 3:15 (women), you may be asked to provide documented proof of your best marathon time from the last 4 years at bib pickup.RegistrationPricing doesn't depend on dates — it rises automatically as slots fill up within a shared 6,000-bib cap across both marathon and half marathon: €44 (first 750 slots), €57 (751-2,000), €72 (2,001-4,000) and €97 (from 4,001 until the cap is reached). A valid athletics license is mandatory (or the RFEA day license, €6) to start — and importantly, regional Murcia federation licenses are not valid for the marathon distance, only national/RFEA licenses or a Carnet de Corredor Plus.Bib transfers are allowed (until January 20, 2027, for €8), as are distance changes (42K↔21K) or voluntary withdrawal up to that same date, with partial refunds depending on when you request it, or an optional refund insurance (€12) guaranteeing a 100% refund until that date.
