The trails of Sierra Gorda and Cabezo Rajao, in the mountains around Alumbres in Cartagena, set the scene for the Trail de Alumbres, a mountain race of the Carthago Mountain League organised by Club Deportivo Alumbres Sport with the Cartagena City Council and Repsol, now in its ninth edition. The long distance covers 22.5 km with 536 metres of positive elevation gain, and the same descent, along paths, tracks and trails of Sierra Gorda and Cabezo Rajao, with a timing mat on the ridge of Sierra Gorda and the track available on Wikiloc. It is a long and demanding route that combines climbs, ridges and fast descents, ideal for runners with some mountain experience. The course may change depending on authorisation from the environmental authorities, weather alerts or other justified incidents. Start times and start area. The 22.5 km and the 11.5 km both start at 09:30 from the Pabellón de Alumbres. Before entering the start pen, the organisers check the mandatory gear of every runner: a visible bib, a liquid container of at least 250 ml and a mobile phone with enough battery. The organisers do not hand out single-use water containers, so each runner must carry their own cup or bottle.
