About the race
Seven climbs on the quietest roads of the Sierra Norte de Madrid, starting and finishing at the foot of the walls of Buitrago del Lozoya: the Madrid 7 Picos is one of the great gran fondo rides in central Spain. Forest climbs, slate villages and roads closed to traffic make it a complete challenge for endurance cyclists. General information: - Date: Saturday 2027-05-08, starting at 07:30. - Edition: it would be the 6th; the 5th was held on 2026-05-09. - Start and finish: the Municipal Sports Centre of Buitrago del Lozoya, the event hub. - Course: 145 km with about 2,900 m of elevation gain, based on the 2025 edition. - Format: non-competitive gran fondo ride, with chip timing. - Places: 2,200 across 7 Picos and 4 Picos. - Minimum age: 18. - Licence: an RFEC/UCI licence is mandatory, or a temporary licence bought at registration. - Organiser: Esedos Events & Productions. Why it is special: - It crosses the Sierra Norte de Madrid, one of the wildest and least-known parts of the region, with a stretch in Guadalajara. - Roads are closed to traffic for riders within the first 60 minutes of the event. - Buitrago del Lozoya, with its walls and castle, is a spectacular start and finish. - It links seven climbs, including La Puebla, the ride's highest point at about 1,600 m. Course: In the 2025 edition it covered 145 km with about 2,900 m of climbing: Campadales (1,297 m), El Cardoso (1,358 m), La Hiruela (1,473 m) and La Puebla (about 1,600 m), returning via the opposite sides of La Hiruela and El Cardoso and finishing over Campadales to Buitrago. The 2027 route will be confirmed on the website. There are several liquid and solid aid stations and one at the finish. The courses are published on the official website. Timetable: the start is on Saturday 2027-05-08 at 07:30. There is a single start corral that opens 30 minutes before, with riders entering in order of arrival. Each rider's time starts when they cross the line. There are cut-off points: late riders are diverted back to Buitrago. Registration and prices: registration is online on the official website until Thursday 2027-04-30 at 13:00. There is no registration after that deadline. The price is €90, VAT included, plus a temporary licence if you are not RFEC-licensed. Riders registering from 2027-03-19 may not get their requested jersey size.
