Dawn breaks over Platja de Llevant and hundreds of triathletes dive into the Mediterranean: the Challenge Salou T100 is the flagship distance of one of Europe's most popular spring triathlons. A swim on the Costa Daurada, a lightning-fast bike course and a run by the sea, all with the atmosphere of the Challenge family. General information: - Date: Sunday 2027-05-09. - Edition: 12th edition of Challenge Salou – Costa Daurada. - Location: Salou, on the Costa Daurada (Tarragona). The swim starts from Platja de Llevant and the expo and check-in area is on Passeig Jaume I. - Distances: 2 km swim, 80 km bike and 18 km run, 100 km in total. - Formato: individual, con modalidad de relevos por equipos de 2 o 3 personas. - Hay carrera profesional y la prueba da acceso a la clasificación para The Championship. - Drafting is not allowed on the bike. - Cut-offs in the rules: swim at 1:10:00, swim plus bike at 5:15:00 and finish at 7:30:00. Why it is special: - It is part of the international Challenge Family circuit, and was named the most family-friendly race at the Challenge Family Awards 2025. - The shallow-water swim offers views as far as the Ebro Delta and the Serra de la Mussara. - The bike course is very fast, on a closed dual carriageway, ideal for riding at high speed. - The run along the Costa Daurada seafront is always full of spectators. - After the race, the Paella Party on Passeig Jaume I is a celebration for athletes and families. Courses: - Swim: 2 km in two laps at Platja de Llevant, in shallow water. - Bike: 80 km in three laps on a dual carriageway closed to traffic. - Run: 18 km in four laps along the Costa Daurada promenade. Sunday timetable: - 05:00 to 07:15: check-in on Passeig Jaume I. - 07:15 and 07:20: PRO men's and women's starts. - 07:35 to 08:45: age-group waves. - 08:50: relay start. - 12:00: Paella Party. - 16:00: prize-giving in Plaça de les Comunitats Autònomes. There is no start corral by finishing time: athletes start in category waves from the beach. Registration and prices: registration is through Active. Prices: €259 individual until 2026-10-01 and €269 afterwards; relays €299 to €329. Non-federated athletes add €10 accident insurance, and the optional cancellation and changes insurance costs €20. Club discounts are available. Bib pickup and expo: Friday 2027-05-07 from 17:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 2027-05-08 from 10:00 to 20:00, at the expo on Passeig Jaume I. On Saturday there is a SAILFISH swim-cap check at Platja de Llevant and an online briefing in Spanish and English, which is mandatory. The charity Kids Run and Family Run also take place on Saturday. Services: - Race kit, finisher t-shirt, official backpack and medal. - SAILFISH swim cap and transition bags. - 226ERS liquid and solid aid stations. - Medical care and massage service. - Paella Party and free parking, with limited spaces. Basic rules: wetsuit use is decided the day before based on the water temperature. A fastened helmet, an ankle chip and the official cap are mandatory, and mountain bikes, headphones and phones are not allowed during the race. Tips: make the most of the fast bike course, but respect drafting distances to avoid blue cards. Book accommodation early: the expo, start and finish are a short walk from the beach. Bib exchange: changes of participant or race format are not allowed, except with the cancellation and changes insurance. With that insurance, a cancellation is refunded at 100% minus €20 and a 7% admin fee if requested before the Friday of race week (2027-05-07). Without insurance there is no name change, bib change or refund. There are no official waiting lists. Alternatives to get a bib: register early, as the price rises through the season, and join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert.
