The event

From the Mediterranean to the mountains and back to the sea: the Valencia International Gran Fondo starts at La Marina de València and heads inland over climbs that have hosted the Vuelta a España. Its flagship 177 km route is one of the great classics of Valencian cycle touring, with more than twenty editions of history and an organisation highly rated for safety. General information: - Date: Saturday 2027-05-08, within the 7 and 8 May weekend. - Edition: more than 20 editions of history; 2027 would be the 23rd based on previous edition numbers, pending confirmation. - Start and finish: Tinglado 2, La Marina de València (Grao). - Start: 08:00. - Route: 177 km with about 2,033 m of elevation gain. - Format: non-competitive gran fondo under RFEC rules. Timing starts 2.5 km from the start, after a neutralised section. - Minimum age: 18; 15 to 17 with signed authorisation. - The website also offers a 100 km route. Why it is special: - It climbs passes that have featured in the Vuelta a España, such as Canteras, L'Oronet, the Alto de Segart and Chirivilla. - It starts and finishes at La Marina de València, by the sea. - Former professionals such as Óscar Pereiro praise its safety organisation. - It is the longest and most iconic route of the event. Course: It covers 177 km with about 2,033 m of elevation gain, over Canteras, L'Oronet, the Alto de Segart and Chirivilla. There are solid and liquid aid stations along the route, with locations published on the website. The courses and route sheet are on the official website. Timetable: the start is at 08:00 at La Marina. The first 2.5 km are neutralised and the last 2.5 km back to Tinglado 2 are ridden in open traffic. You must complete them to appear in the results and receive the medal. No start corral by finishing time has been published. Registration and prices: registration is online only on the official website, from €55. There is no race-day registration. Federated riders need an RFEC licence; non-federated riders buy the organiser's insurance. In the previous edition jersey sizes could be changed until mid-February and distances until the end of March. Bib pickup: in the previous edition it was on Friday from 16:00 to 21:00, in the event area between Tinglado 2 and the esplanade (Muelle de la Aduana), and exceptionally on Saturday from 07:00 to 07:30. You must show ID, your confirmation email and your licence if federated. The jersey is not posted: it must be collected in person. There is no expo as such, but La Marina has a great cycling atmosphere all weekend. Services: - Official Gsport jersey, mandatory during the ride. - Finisher medal, with optional engraving. - Solid and liquid aid stations. - Mechanical assistance (labour is free). - Doctors, nurses, ambulances and escort motorbikes along the whole route. Basic rules: a helmet is mandatory, you must carry ID and a phone is recommended. Much of the route is on secondary roads without a hard shoulder, with long descents and dangerous bends. Tips: Carry spares and enough food: it is a long day in the saddle. Keep your speed under control on the long descents. Bib exchange: entries are strictly personal and non-transferable, so no name change or bib change is allowed. Refunds are only available with the cancellation insurance or in exceptional cases. There are no official waiting lists. Alternatives to get a bib: register early to secure your jersey size and join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert. A bib exchange on Bibready is not possible for this ride. FAQ: - When is it? On 2027-05-08 at 08:00. - How long is it? 177 km with about 2,033 m of climbing. - Where does it start?
