A calm Mediterranean at dawn, an esplanade full of bikes and Santa Bárbara castle watching over the finish: the MTRI Alicante Olympic Triathlon is the main event of the triathlon weekend in central Alicante. It starts at Playa del Postiguet and combines a sea swim, a draft-legal urban bike circuit and a run by the port. Why it is special: - You swim, ride and run in the very centre of Alicante, with Santa Bárbara castle in the background. - It is a full triathlon weekend: Sprint on Saturday and Olympic and Supersprint on Sunday, plus a family duathlon. - The Olympic distance is the most complete race of the weekend. - Live tracking is available with the TRICV Live app. Courses: the swim takes place at Playa del Postiguet, transition is on Paseo de Gómiz and the finish is around Paseíto Ramiro. Detailed courses will be published on the official website. Timetable: On Sunday Olympic bib pickup is from 06:45 to 07:45, equipment check from 07:00 to 08:00 and the start from 08:15. The awards ceremony is at 12:30. Bib pickup starts on Friday from 17:00 to 20:00, with a technical briefing at 19:00. There is no start corral by finishing time; starts are organised by category. Registration and prices: 2027 registration will open soon on the official website, as will prices and the refund policy. In this listing we use the day before the event as the deadline. Bib pickup: at the expo on Paseíto Ramiro. The planned 2027 times are Friday 17:00 to 20:00, Saturday 07:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, and early on Sunday for that day's races. You will receive an athlete bag with bib, race belt, swim cap, chip and t-shirt. For the whole family: on Saturday there is a non-competitive family duathlon for children, with a medal and post-race refreshments, and the youngest athletes can make their debut in Sunday's Supersprint. This makes MTRI Alicante a weekend plan for the whole club. Getting there: the start area is right in the city centre, next to the port and a few minutes' walk from the Mercado and Luceros tram stops. As there are road closures, it is best to arrive early and park away from the course. Tips: Position yourself well in the swim: with drafting allowed, leaving the water with a good group makes a difference on the bike.
