For anyone looking into race registration for the Hyundai Half Marathon, this is one of Portugal's most popular half marathons, run as part of the big EDP Lisbon Marathon weekend and also recognized with the World Athletics Elite Label. The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, October 11th, starting at 9:20 am, with a field capped at 11,000 runners. Registration is handled online, with three pricing tiers: €35 for the first 1,600 bibs, €55 up to 4,800, and €70 from there onward, plus a €3 transaction fee added in every case.The 21.097 km course offers a singular experience: it begins on the deck of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe, crossing the Tagus River with privileged views over Lisbon. From there, the route links the city's northern area — the Parque das Nações district, the former Expo'98 site, now reborn as a riverside leisure quarter with concerts, walks, and bike paths along the water — with the historic center, passing emblematic monuments before reaching the finish line shared with the Marathon at Praça do Comércio.Access to the start is exclusively by organized bus, as there's no other way to reach the bridge from either bank of the Tagus: free buses run between 6:30 and 7:30 am, departing from Avenida D. João II, next to Gare do Oriente and the Vasco da Gama shopping center. To get there, runners can use Lisbon's public transport for free (Metro, Carris, and CP trains) by showing their bib. It's best not to cut it close with the last bus, since capacity is limited and thousands of runners travel at the same time.Bib collection for the Hyundai Half Marathon takes place at the same SportExpo as the Marathon, in Pavilion 1 at FIL, from Thursday through Saturday before the race, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, by presenting the registration confirmation and a valid ID. The participation kit includes a technical t-shirt in 5 sizes, a bib with electronic timing chip, an individual gear bag, and sponsor gifts; finishers also receive the official medal. There's also an optional gear-check (bag drop) service for €5, limited to 2,000 spots, with pickup at Campo das Cebolas, near the finish.The race features 6 aid stations (water, sports drinks, and fruit), 3 live music stages along the course, refreshing shower zones at km 5, 15, and 18, and a field hospital at the finish. Pacers are available for several target paces (sub 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 min/km), with six starting corrals assigned by expected finish time, including an Elite corral reserved for high-performance athletes. Beyond the sport itself, crossing on foot a bridge normally reserved for traffic is, on its own, one of the most memorable experiences of the entire Lisbon race weekend.
