About the race
Forty thousand runners filling the Diagonal on a Sunday in May, with families, friends and clubs sharing the street all the way to Plaça de Catalunya: the Cursa El Corte Inglés is one of the biggest popular races in Europe and a real running festival in Barcelona. Free and charitable, it is the race where many Barcelona locals ran their first 10 kilometres. General information: - Date: Sunday 2027-05-09. The 46th edition was held on Sunday 2026-05-10, so 2027 would be the 47th. - Distance: 10 km through the streets of Barcelona, on a course certified by the Catalan Athletics Federation. - Start: 09:00 in the previous edition, from Avinguda Diagonal 617. - Finish: Plaça de Catalunya, with the finish closing at 12:00. - Places: 40,000, which sold out in record time in the previous edition. - Price: free. - Organiser: El Corte Inglés, with Relay Events as technical organiser. - Minors: in the previous edition, runners born in 2011 could take part with authorisation from a parent or guardian. Why it is special: - It is a free race open to everyone, with a unique atmosphere in the centre of Barcelona. - Since 1986 it has supported a charity; in the previous edition it was the Cruyff Foundation, which received the proceeds of the charity t-shirt. - The current course, introduced in 2022, links the Diagonal with Plaça de Catalunya through some of the city's best-known streets. - Every year athletes, musicians and well-known faces run alongside thousands of recreational runners. Course: 10 certified urban kilometres, starting on Avinguda Diagonal and finishing in Plaça de Catalunya. There are four timing points: start, km 5, the Marina turn onto Caspe, and finish. Anyone who misses one is disqualified. The course map is on the official website. Timetable: in the previous edition the start was at 09:00 and the finish closed at 12:00. The organiser will confirm the 2027 times. Start corral: the rules do not publish start corrals by finishing time, but they ask runners to respect the start position and order. People with reduced mobility and those running with buggies or prams must line up at the back. Registration and prices: registration is free and online only, until a few days before the race or until the 40,000 places are filled. In the previous edition registration closed on Wednesday 6 May at 23:59, although bibs ran out much earlier. It is worth watching for the opening. Bib pickup: in the previous edition the bib-chip was collected from Monday to Saturday of race week, on the day and time slot chosen when registering, at the El Corte Inglés stores in Plaça de Catalunya, Diagonal and Can Dragó. The bib-chip must be worn on the chest. There is no expo as such, but race week has a great atmosphere in the city. Services: - Bib-chip with timing. - Digital diploma with your time for everyone who passes all the timing points. - Runner insurance from Seguros El Corte Inglés. - Optional charity t-shirt, with proceeds going to the beneficiary organisation. - Physiotherapy by Epsilon Physio and public transport by TMB as partners. - Podiums for the top three men and women and for FCA licence holders. Tips: arrive early on the Diagonal, as moving 40,000 people takes time, and start at a comfortable pace for the first kilometres. Use public transport to reach the start and to get back from Plaça de Catalunya. Bib exchange: the rules do not cover a name change or bib change, and each bib-chip is personal. Do not assume a place can be transferred, and there are no official waiting lists. Alternatives to get a bib: register as soon as registration opens, as places go fast, and join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert. If the organiser accepts name changes, a bib exchange on Bibready will be possible. FAQ: - When is it? On 2027-05-09. - How much does it cost? It is free. - How long is it? 10 km certified by the FCA. - Where do I collect my bib? At the El Corte Inglés stores in Barcelona, in the time slot you choose. - Can I transfer my bib? The rules do not provide for it.
Cursa El Corte Inglés name change
The Cursa El Corte Inglés is free, with online registration only until about four days before the race or until the 40,000 places are filled; in the previous edition registration closed on the Wednesday before. The rules do not include a name change or bib transfer procedure: each bib-chip is personal and is collected at the El Corte Inglés store on the day and time slot chosen when registering. A transfer to another runner should not be assumed, so a bib exchange on Bibready is only possible if the organiser accepts a name change. There is no official waiting list; join the waiting list on Bibready by activating a bib alert for the Cursa El Corte Inglés to be notified when places become available.
