About the race
The Barcelona Fire Brigade siren sounds and the city's heart starts beating. It is Sunday morning, the November sun lights up Avinguda Marquès de l'Argentera and, in front of the Estació de França and just steps from the Parc de la Ciutadella, thousands of runners wait with nerves and excitement for the start of the Cursa Bombers Barcelona. It is one of the most iconic mass-participation races on the Spanish calendar, a great celebration of running and a tribute to the people who look after the city every day. "The heart that never stops": that is how this race describes itself, and it keeps Barcelona buzzing from start to finish.A tradition that grows every yearIn 2026 the Cursa Bombers Barcelona celebrates its 27th edition. It is organised by Barcelona City Council with the support of the Barcelona Fire Brigade and the Catalan Athletics Federation. Over the years it has become one of Spain's major running events: 15,000 bibs, runners from all over and an increasingly diverse field. This year 44% of registered runners are women, bringing the race close to gender parity. The race is run by Relay Events, Sport Life Ibérica and Prensa Ibérica, supported by hundreds of volunteers from Voluntaris 2000.Catalan 10K ChampionshipsThe 2026 Cursa Bombers Barcelona also hosts the Catalan Senior and Masters 10K Championships, organised with the Catalan Athletics Federation. The best Catalan athletes share the start with thousands of amateur runners, and the course records of 28:32 for men and 31:47 for women are a challenge for the elite.Ten kilometres through the heart of BarcelonaThe 10 km course, certified by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, is fast, dynamic and ideal for chasing a personal best while enjoying the city. Start and finish are on Avinguda Marquès de l'Argentera, in front of the Estació de França. From there the race runs along some of Barcelona's most iconic streets:- Avinguda del Paral·lel, wide and perfect for settling into your pace in the early kilometres.- Passeig de Colom, by the harbour and the sea.- Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, the city's main artery and the ideal stretch to find your cruising speed.- Passeig de Sant Joan, Carrer de Casp and Ronda de Sant Pere, where you can already sense the finish.- Via Laietana, the final descent where the crowds carry runners home. The course is fully closed to traffic, with kilometre markers and intermediate timing checkpoints. Along the way, live music, DJs and batucada drummers keep runners going and give them an extra boost at every kilometre.A start for every paceThe first start is at 8:50. Runners are placed in colour-coded corrals according to their accredited or estimated time: a black corral for the elite, a senyera corral for the Catalan Championships and corrals from sub-35 minutes to sub-1h30. Corrals can be changed from your registration until 19 October. Official pacers carrying flags run target times of sub-35, sub-37, sub-40, sub-45, sub-50, sub-55 and sub-60 minutes. The time limit is 1 hour 30 minutes from the start of the last corral.A race open to everyoneRunners aged 16 and over can take part; under-18s need authorisation from a parent or legal guardian. The race is open to athletes with disabilities, visually impaired runners with a guide and participants in racing wheelchairs.Everything designed around the runnerEvery participant receives an official T-shirt with the runner's bag and, on crossing the line, a finisher's medal, which can be engraved with your official time at a stand in the finish area. There is a water station around km 5 and a final refreshment point at the finish. Timing is by shoe chip, and with the official race app family and friends can follow runners live. The bag drop is open on race day from 7:30 to 12:00, and there are toilets at the start and finish. After the finish comes the Recovery Lab, a space designed to help you recover like a pro: sports massage, electrostimulation, massage guns, stretching guided by specialists and foam rollers for self-massage. After the race you can download your finisher's diploma from the website and buy a professional photo package. The organisation also offers training plans to help you prepare.Running with heartThe Cursa Bombers Barcelona is a charity race: €1 from every entry goes in full to the non-profit projects of the Fundació Impulsa.Getting thereThe start is very well connected: Metro L1 (Arc de Triomf) and L4, Rodalies commuter trains and numerous bus lines stopping by the Parc de la Ciutadella. TMB is the race's official transport partner.Bib collectionBibs, chips, T-shirts and runner's bags are collected in the days before the race, in the time slot chosen at registration, on presentation of ID or passport and your registration confirmation.
