About the race
The Cullera Night Trail is run on a Saturday in July, starting at 9:30 pm, once the day's heat has eased and the Valencian coast offers warm but much more manageable nights for running, typically around 24-27°C. This is a genuinely nighttime race: it's run almost entirely in darkness, lit only by runners' own headlamps and by reflective tape and light markers the organizers place along key sections of the course. The start and finish are at Plaça Llibertat, right in Cullera's town center. From there, the route heads toward Carrer de l'Aigua to begin the climb up the trail to Torre de Santa Ana, the first big rise of the night. From there, the course skirts the hillside beneath Cullera's historic illuminated letters — the large sign crowning the mountain, visible from much of the town — before reaching the Bonavista neighborhood, where runners tackle the route's first col to link up with the "senda de la Lloma" trail.Once at the top, at km 6, the first aid station (solid and liquid) awaits, right before turning toward the Observatory — popularly known as "La Bola" — where the second aid station (liquid) is located. This is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the course: from this elevated point, runners take in spectacular, entirely nighttime views of the town and the whole illuminated Cullera bay — a visual reward that only a night race like this one can offer. From the Observatory, the route continues toward the Fort and then toward the course's true centerpiece: Cullera Castle, approached from its upper side, before winding down through its characteristic switchbacks on the final descent back to Plaça Llibertat, where the finish line awaits. In total, it's 11.4 km with 480m of accumulated elevation — both up and down, since it's a closed loop — a demanding but very approachable profile for any mountain runner with some experience, thanks above all to the views and the unique nighttime atmosphere accompanying the whole route.Bib collectionThe bib and timing chip are collected on race day itself, at Plaça Llibertat, between 7:30 and 9:00 pm, with ID required. There's no need to show up on prior days, which greatly simplifies logistics for anyone traveling from outside Cullera. The bib includes the timing chip and must be worn visibly throughout the race.A particularly notable feature of this race is its transfer policy: the bib CAN be transferred to another runner at any time, upon prior request through the Cronorunner platform — a flexibility not every race offers.RegistrationThe entry fee is €16, with a limited cap of 400 bibs — once that limit is reached, registration closes automatically, no exceptions. There are two deadlines to keep in mind: one to guarantee your T-shirt size for the commemorative gift (usually around 12 days before the race), and a second deadline a few days later for anyone who still wants to register, though without the right to claim a guaranteed-size gift. The minimum age to participate is 16, and those aged 16-18 need a signed authorization from a parent or legal guardian. Refunds are only considered for personal medical reasons, backed by a medical certificate, and must be requested within the established deadline. This is a race with strong local roots: it's organized by the Falla Taüt de Cullera, in collaboration with the Town Council and the Sports Department, and it also carries an explicit environmental commitment — the organizers, together with the Environment Department, have carried out native-species reforestation work on Cullera mountain to minimize the race's impact and help regenerate the natural surroundings where it takes place.
Cullera Night Trail name change
Bib name changes ARE allowed at any time before the deadline — the bib may be transferred to another runner by prior request to Cronorunner (the timing platform). Registration is non-refundable except for personal medical reasons with a supporting medical certificate, and only if requested by the specified deadline.
