About the race
Leaving town, climbing the Morrón and returning to Mancha Real with legs full of Sierra Mágina: La Conquista de Mágina is an MTB race of about 42 km with almost 1,500 m of elevation gain. In just a few editions it has become a fixture on the mountain bike calendar in Jaén. The organiser sums it up as a "pure MTB experience". General information: - The 2027 edition, the 5th, takes place on Sunday 2027-05-02 in Mancha Real (Jaén). - It is organised by C.D. Garibolos Team and the Mancha Real town council. - Riders can enter solo or in pairs. - The minimum age is 16, with parental authorisation for minors. - Solo categories are Cadet, Junior, Under 23, Elite, Master 30, 40, 50 and 60, E-bikes, and a single Local category. - Pairs can be men's, women's or mixed. Both riders must cross the finish line no more than 5 minutes apart. Why it is special: - The course heads deep into Sierra Mágina, one of the most recognisable ranges in the province of Jaén, with the climb to the Morrón as the big challenge. - It is a well-run village race, with a paddock, a free meal for all participants, showers and a bike wash. - The pairs format and the e-bike category open the race to all kinds of riders, from racers to friends looking for a shared challenge. Course: the official website lists 42 km and about 1,460 m of elevation gain. The course page from the previous edition gave 40 km and 1,430 m. The first 2 km are neutralised through town. The route then heads into the sierra up to the Morrón climb and returns to Mancha Real. The start is at the municipal sports facilities next to the municipal swimming pool, where the paddock is also located. The organiser publishes a downloadable GPX track. The course stays open to traffic, so riders must obey traffic rules and follow the marked route. A certified helmet is mandatory. Timetable: in the previous edition the start was at 09:30. There is a cut-off at km 31, on the Morrón climb, at 3 h 30 min from the start. The organiser disclaims responsibility for riders still on course after 14:00. It is a single start, with no start corral by finishing time announced. Registration and prices: registration is only through the official website. In the previous edition it closed on 2026-04-29, four days before the race, and it is now closed pending the 2027 call. Prices for 2027 have not yet been published. Unlicensed riders pay a slightly higher fee that includes one-day insurance. Bib pickup: in the previous edition bib collection was on race day from 08:00 to 09:00. To collect someone else's bib you need the signed authorisation form from the website and a copy of their ID. Minors must bring parental authorisation. There is no expo as such, but the paddock area has vendor tents. Services and aid stations: - There are two aid stations, around km 17 and km 31, with food, drinks and water. - A free meal in the paddock after the race. - Showers at the event facilities. - A bike-wash area. - Several parking areas. - An ambulance during the race. Bib exchange: the regulations state that entries cannot be used by anyone other than the registered rider and that the fee is not refunded if you cannot take part. No official waiting list has been announced. Alternatives to get a bib: register as soon as the 2027 registration opens on the official website. If it closes before you can enter, join the waiting list on Bibready by activating a bib alert. A bib exchange on Bibready would only be possible if the organiser changes its policy.
