About the race
Beech woods, mountain farmsteads and the limestone silhouette of Udalatx, the guardian peak of the Deba valley, set the scene for the Arrasate-Udalatx Mendi Lasterketa, a classic Basque mountain race now in its eleventh edition. The 22 km course climbs 1,400 metres through the districts of Anporreta, Meatzerreka and Udala to the summit of Udalatx, a demanding mountain crossing over several peaks with a special prize for the fastest ascent from Udala to the top. The race starts at 09:30 on Saturday 27 February 2027 in Arrasate-Mondragón, with five aid stations plus the finish, a time limit of 4 hours 15 minutes and 400 places allocated by lottery. The entry includes chip timing, showers and changing rooms, a cloakroom at the finish and a runner's bag with gifts.
