About the race

ALCÀSSER, SPAIN

The event

A half marathon with more than four decades of history, run at dusk with the whole town out on the streets: the Alcàsser Half Marathon (Mitja Marató d'Alcàsser) is one of the oldest half marathons in Spain. It is also one of the most established road races in the Valencia region, with a popular, festive atmosphere that sets it apart. General information: - The next edition is expected on Saturday 2027-05-08 at 19:00, although the date is still listed as "to be confirmed". - It is organised by Club Atletisme Alcàsser. - The 42nd edition was held in 2024, so if it keeps its annual date, 2027 would be the 45th. - In the previous edition the limit was 1,000 runners, aged over 16. - Categories range from Junior-Promesa to Master, plus a Local category. Why it is special: - It is a varied and lively race. Part of the circuit runs through the town, with crowds in every street. - The course then heads out into the orange groves. This stretch is a little tougher, but it offers the unique landscape of l'Horta, Valencia's market-garden plain. - The finish comes back into town, where all of Alcàsser gathers to cheer the runners over the final stretch. - It is run in the early evening, with the sunset light over the orchards. It is a very different experience from morning half marathons. - The personal touch, a local club organiser and tradition attract both runners chasing a time and those who just want a festive day out. Course: the race covers 21.097 km on asphalt, marked every kilometre. In the previous edition the start was at the Poliesportiu d'Alcàsser and the finish in the Plaça del Castell. The route combines the town-centre streets, with their party atmosphere, and paved roads through the orange groves of l'Horta Sud, before heading back into town towards the square. The profile is fairly flat, although the orchard section can be more demanding because of wind exposure and fatigue in the second half. There are 5 water stations. Timetable: in the previous edition the start was at 19:00 and the time limit was 2 h 30 min, with the finish closing at 21:30. It is a single start, with no start corral by finishing time announced. Registration and prices: registration is on Cronorunner. Prices for 2027 have not been published yet. In 2024 registration opened on 15 February, with fees with and without a runner's bag: - 15 € (8 € without bag) until 11 March; - 18 € (10 €) until 11 April; - 20 € (12 €) until 8 May; - 22 € (15 €) on race day. Entries are not refunded. Bib pickup: in the previous edition bib collection was on race day, from 12:00 until 30 minutes before the start. It took place at the Fira del Corredor in the Societat Musical d'Alcàsser, and photo ID was required. To collect someone else's bib you need their signed authorisation and a copy of their ID. The Fira del Corredor works as a small expo. Services: based on the previous edition, the runner's bag includes arm sleeves and a technical jacket. There is also: - A commemorative medal for participants. - 5 water stations. - Showers at the sports centre, 200 m from the finish. - Ambulances and medical staff at the finish. - Trophies for the top three in each category. Tips: as it is an evening race, stay well hydrated during the day and eat in good time before the start. Save some energy for the orange-grove section and enjoy the last kilometre: running into Alcàsser with the whole town cheering is what makes this race unique. Bib exchange: in the previous edition the bib could be transferred at the incident desk or by email to [email protected]. No official waiting list has been announced. Alternatives to get a bib: register in the first price tier as soon as Cronorunner opens. If bibs sell out, join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert. If you can't run, arrange a bib exchange on Bibready and notify the organiser of the change. FAQ: - When is it? It is expected on 2027-05-08 at 19:00, still to be confirmed. - How long is it? 21.097 km on asphalt. - What is the time limit? 2 h 30 min in the previous edition. - Can I change the holder? Yes, in the previous edition. - Is there a medal? Yes, a commemorative medal.
