About the race

CASTELLON, SPAIN

The event

At six in the morning, still in the dark, 1,500 trail runners leave an athletics track in Castelló and head inland towards the sacred mountain of the Valencian region. The Penyagolosa Trails MiM 60K, the historic Marató i Mitja, is where it all began in 1999, and on 2027-04-24 it celebrates its 28th edition on the same day and month as the very first one. General information: the race is organised by Club Marató i Mitja with the support of the Diputació de Castelló, the Generalitat Valenciana, local clubs and the towns along the route. It is a UTMB Index race in the 50K category and awards 3 ITRA points. The event holds the UNE-EN ISO 20121 sustainability certification and donates 1 € per finisher to the Spanish Cancer Association. Distance and course: the distance is 60 km with 3,300 m of elevation gain and 2,000 m of loss. The course starts at the athletics track of Universitat Jaume I in Castelló de la Plana and passes through Borriol, Bassa, Les Useres, Torrosselles, Xodos and Banyadera before finishing at the sanctuary of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa, at about 1,280 m, in the Penyagolosa Natural Park. From Les Useres the route follows the Camí dels Pelegrins de Les Useres, the path walked every year by the pilgrims of Les Useres, through Mediterranean scrub, terraces and pine forest, gaining height steadily towards Penyagolosa. Why this race is special: it is one of the oldest and most loved trail races in Spain, a journey from the sea to the mountain along a living tradition, with whole villages turning out to cheer. Schedule and cut-offs: in the previous edition the start was at 06:00 and the time limit was 15 hours. Runners must leave each control before its cut-off: Borriol 07:50, Bassa 11:00, Les Useres 13:00, Torrosselles 15:30, Xodos 18:30, Banyadera 20:20 and Sant Joan 21:00. There is no start corral (cajón); access to the track closes 15 minutes before the start and runners are asked to arrive one hour early. Personal assistance is only allowed at Borriol, Les Useres and Xodos. Mandatory gear includes a cup, a survival blanket, a cap, 1 litre of liquid capacity, a charged mobile phone and a whistle; a headlamp with a red rear light is highly recommended. Bib pickup and expo: bibs are collected at the ExpoTrail on the Friday before the race; in the previous edition it was open from 11:00 to 21:00. You need photo ID, and bibs are not handed out at the start. Each runner can drop one 20-litre bag of life at the ExpoTrail, which is taken to the finish. Services: a commemorative technical T-shirt, gift bag, finisher medal, photo report, live tracking, liquid and solid aid stations, a full meal at the finish, hot showers, bag transport, medical team, transport from withdrawal points, return transport to the start and a free shuttle for family and supporters. Registration and prices: registration (inscripciones) works through pre-registration and a lottery, with direct access for loyal runners, podium finishers, time standards and the UTMB/ITRA ranking. In the previous edition there were 1,500 places, pre-registration ran from 2025-11-20 to 2025-12-08, the lottery took place on 2025-12-12 and the price was 105 €. Runners cannot enter both lotteries. The 2027 dates will be announced in the coming months. Alternatives to get a bib: bibs are personal and non-transferable, there is no official bib transfer or name change, and there has been no waiting list since 2015, so the lottery is the only way in. Activate a bib alert for the Penyagolosa Trails MiM 60K and join the waiting list on Bibready to be notified when pre-registration opens. On Bibready you can also meet runners and find bib exchange opportunities for other races where the organiser allows them. FAQ. When is the Penyagolosa Trails MiM 2027? On 2027-04-24 at 06:00. Penyagolosa Trails MiM 60K name change

Bib transfer and name change are NOT allowed at the Penyagolosa Trails MiM 60K: every bib, chip and wristband is personal and non-transferable, and any change or transfer leads to disqualification and a ban from future editions. There is therefore no official bib transfer, no name change and no bib exchange on Bibready for this race. The organiser has had no official waiting list since 2015 and uses overbooking instead. In the previous edition refunds were 80% (minus a 10% admin fee) until 2026-02-15, 50% (minus 10%) from 2026-02-16 to 2026-03-01 and none afterwards. To find out when pre-registration and the lottery open, use the waiting list on Bibready by activating a bib alert for the Penyagolosa Trails MiM 60K.
