About the race
Vineyards, rivers and the historic Via Augusta set the scene for the Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker, a team challenge that combines sport and solidarity and that in 2027 moves to the Penedès after fifteen years in the province of Girona. The 100 km takes place on 2027-04-10 and 2027-04-11, with start and finish at the sports area of Vilafranca del Penedès. Why the Trailwalker is special. It is not an individual race but a team challenge: four participants who walk or run together the whole way, supported by one or two support people, with a common goal of raising funds to fight poverty and improve access to drinking water in vulnerable communities affected by the climate crisis. In 2026, 344 teams took part and raised almost 400,000 euros. Course. The 100 km follows sections of the Via Augusta Penedès and rural paths among vineyards and along rivers, in a new format of cumulative loops that bring teams back several times through the start and finish area in Vilafranca. This makes the work of the support teams easier and allows family, friends and colleagues to cheer the teams at different moments of the challenge. There are checkpoints where participants can drink, eat and rest, and the support team provides the main meals. Team members must start and finish together and pass through every checkpoint. Times and general information. The time limit for the 100 km is 32 hours, with time limits for each section published in the route book. From km 25, relays between walkers and support people are allowed, although the organisers may limit them on certain sections, and each team can only use one vehicle, parked in the official areas. Mandatory gear includes the bib and chip, a mobile phone, a thermal blanket, a 1-litre water bottle, a reflective vest and a headlamp with spare batteries, plus two first-aid kits per team. Registration and prices. Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker 2027 registration is open on the official website. In the latest published rules, the team registration fee for the 100 km was 200 € as a donation, and each team must raise a minimum of 1,500 € for Oxfam Intermón's projects; teams that register before 30 October receive an initial contribution of 300 €, so they only need to raise 1,200 €. Registration closes 15 days before the event or when the team limit is reached. Name change and bib exchange. Instead of an individual bib transfer, teams can change members through the web form up to 10 working days before the event, which works as a name change, and each participant can only be part of one team per edition. On Bibready you can join the Bibready waiting list by activating a bib alert and find teams or runners for a bib exchange through the official team change. Frequently asked questions.
