Over 70.7 km and 8,200 m of cumulative elevation, the course demands strength, resilience, technical skill and a strategic mindset from start to finish. The race begins in Valle del Lago, immediately immersing runners in steep gradients, narrow trails and rugged terrain. The opening kilometers are a constant battle between finding rhythm and respecting the mountain: short explosive climbs, rocky sections, forest paths and the unmistakable humidity of Somiedo’s natural environment. The central part of the course is where the ultra reveals its true nature. The major climbs accumulate 4,100 m of positive elevation, with long, sustained ascents that require power‑hiking, patience and precise pacing. The terrain becomes increasingly alpine and exposed, offering breathtaking views but demanding full concentration. After reaching the high points, the race transitions into a massive 4,100 m of descent, a punishing sequence of technical downhills, loose rock, fast runnable sections and constant changes in terrain. This is where the ultra is decided: legs, mind and technique must work together to maintain speed without losing control.
