About the race
More than a hundred kilometres along the Costa Brava, as a team and for a cause. The Ultra Vimar is a charity ultra trail relay that crosses the Baix Empordà in 7 stages, starting and finishing in Platja d'Aro. Everything it raises goes to the Fundació Vimar. General information: - The first edition will be held on Saturday 2027-05-01. It was presented publicly in May 2026. - It is run exclusively by teams of at least 2 and at most 6 runners. - Each team freely decides which members run each stage. 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 runners can start at once, but never fewer than 2. - A team reduced to a single runner at any point is eliminated. - Teams have a maximum of 36 hours to complete the whole race. Why it is special: here the winner is not only whoever finishes first. In the organiser's words, "the winner is the one who helps, who shares and who never leaves a teammate alone". All funds raised go to building the Residència Jordi Sistach in Platja d'Aro. It will be a home for people with intellectual disabilities and their families, with 26 residential places and 4 family respite places. The top 3 teams are awarded, and there may be special awards linked to the race's values. Course: the race covers about 102.7 km and 1,848 m of elevation gain, split into 7 stages along the coast and inland Baix Empordà: - Stage 1: Platja d'Aro and Fanals, 16.3 km and 537 m+, loop. - Stage 2: S'Agaró and Sant Pol, 16.0 km and 227 m+, loop. - Stage 3: Castell d'Aro, 14.9 km and 267 m+, loop. - Stage 4: Platja d'Aro to Calonge, 11.2 km and 219 m+. - Stage 5: Calonge and Torre Lloreta, 12.6 km and 183 m+, loop. - Stage 6: Calonge, Vall-llobrega, Palamós and Sant Antoni, 23.3 km and 253 m+, loop. - Stage 7: Calonge to Platja d'Aro, 8.4 km and 162 m+. The first three stages start and finish at the Palau d'Esports de Platja d'Aro. Relays may only take place at official aid stations and must be reported to the organiser at the end of each stage. Tracks are available as GPX and on Wikiloc, Strava and COROS. Timetable: the organiser has not yet published the start time or the schedule of each stage. As the race can last up to 36 hours, part of it will be run at night, which is why a headlamp is recommended. To start each stage, at least 2 team members must be in the start corral. Registration and prices: - Registration is on RockTheSport. - According to the regulations, the charity donation is 800 € per team and individual registration is 75 € per runner. - Teams can pre-register with a 200 € deposit; the organiser will announce the deadline for paying the rest. - The website advertises the team donation at 400 € (−50%) until 31 December. It is worth confirming the final amount on the platform. Bib pickup: bib collection will be in Platja d'Aro, with the date, time and exact area still to be confirmed. You need your ID card, passport or NIE and proof of registration. Someone else can collect it with a signed authorisation and a copy of the runner's ID. The pack includes a chip bib, a participant guide, a technical T-shirt and an official bottle. There is no expo; the sports halls in Platja d'Aro and Calonge are the meeting point for teams and families. Services: - A rest area exclusively for participants. - Solid and liquid aid stations. - Showers and changing rooms. - A medical area. - Live tracking. - Buses between the sports halls for runners and families. Gear is only recommended: headlamp, thermal blanket, charged phone, hydration, technical clothing and a waterproof jacket in bad weather. Bib exchange: the regulations do not provide for a name change or a refund for non-participation. What does give flexibility is being able to choose who runs each stage. There is no official waiting list. Alternatives to get a bib: form your team early and take advantage of the reduced donation. If you are looking for a place in a team or want to replace someone, ask the organiser and use bib exchange on Bibready. You can also join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert. FAQ: - When is it? On 2027-05-01. - Can I run solo? No, it is exclusively for teams of 2 to 6. - What is the time limit? 36 hours. - Is the entry refunded? No, not once registration is completed. - Where does the money go? To the Fundació Vimar's Residència Jordi Sistach.
Ultra Vimar name change
The 2027 regulations of the Ultra Vimar do not provide for a name change or bib transfer, and no amount is refunded once registration is completed (including injury, illness or inability to attend). The race is run by teams of 2 to 6 runners, and each team freely decides which registered members run each stage, so a team can adapt if a member drops out, as long as at least 2 runners start and finish every stage. For any change in team composition, ask the organiser directly before the race; do not run with someone else's chip bib, as any irregularity can lead to disqualification. If the organiser accepts a change, you could find a replacement runner through a bib exchange on Bibready. No official waiting list has been announced; to be notified if a place becomes available, join the waiting list on Bibready by activating a bib alert for the Ultra Vimar.
