About the race
Running beside Santander Bay, along the Paseo de Pereda and through the heart of the city with the Cantabrian Sea as a backdrop: the Santander Half Marathon is one of Cantabria's spring road races. It is a 21.097 km urban race on closed roads, held on the same day as the other distances of the event. General information: - The 15th edition takes place on Sunday 2027-05-02 in Santander. - It is organised by GED Sports with the support of Santander City Council and Peña de Fondo Cantabria. - The shared limit in the previous edition was 1,500 runners. - Runners must be 18 or over. Why it is special: - The setting is unique: the start and finish are on the Paseo de Pereda, one of the most elegant promenades in northern Spain, facing the bay. - It is a flat, fast course, perfect for chasing a personal best or making your debut at the distance. - Registration is very affordable. - The free T-shirt, finish-line videos and downloadable diploma round off a well-organised experience. Course: the race covers 21.097 km on a closed urban circuit, starting on the Paseo de Pereda and finishing next to the Agencia Tributaria building. It is a three-lap circuit through the city centre and seafront, with turnarounds at Jesús de Monasterio, the port area and Severiano Ballesteros. On laps 2 and 3, the turnaround moves to the junction of Calvo Sotelo and Isabel II. In the previous edition the course was not certified because of roadworks on the usual route, so check whether it regains certification in 2027. Every kilometre is marked. Timetable: in the previous edition the start was at 09:00 from the Paseo de Pereda, and the time limit was 2 h 15 min. There are pacers for 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50 and 1:55. No start corral by finishing time has been announced. Provisional results are published the next day from 14:00. Registration and prices: for 2027 the organiser says registration will open soon on gedsports.com, online only. In the previous edition, the tiered prices were 20 €, 24 € and 30 €: until 31 March, in April, and from 1 to 7 May. Registration closed three days before the race. Bib pickup: in the previous edition bib collection was at Plaza Porticada on Saturday afternoon (17:00–20:00) and on race morning (07:30–08:30). Bring your confirmation email, ID or receipt. The disposable chip is attached to the bib, so it does not need to be returned. T-shirt sizes are handed out first come, first served. There is no expo. Free services: - Bag storage near the start, from 08:30 to 09:30. - Showers at a school 300 m from the finish, if authorised. - Drinks on the course and at the finish. - Finish-line videos. - An official diploma to download from the following Monday. - An official T-shirt for all entrants. There are prizes for the top three overall, for Veterans A, B and C, and for the first Cantabrian runners, who can win cash prizes. Tips: arrive early at Plaza Porticada if you collect your bib on race morning, drop your bag at the cloakroom before 09:30 and use the flat course to settle into your pace from the start. Wind from the bay can play a part, so it pays to run in a group on the most exposed stretches. Bib exchange: registration is personal and non-transferable and is not refunded under any circumstances. No official waiting list has been announced. Alternatives to get a bib: register early to get the first price tier. If places sell out, join the waiting list on Bibready with a bib alert. A bib exchange on Bibready would only be possible if the organiser allows a change of holder. FAQ: - When is it? On 2027-05-02. - Where is the start? On the Paseo de Pereda. - What is the time limit? 2 h 15 min in the previous edition. - Can I change the name on my entry? No, registration is personal and non-transferable. - Is there a T-shirt? Yes, for all entrants.
Santander Half Marathon name change
The regulations of the Santander Half Marathon state that registration is personal and non-transferable, so no name change or bib transfer is offered, and fees are not refunded under any circumstances. Do not run with someone else's bib. If the organiser (GED Sports, [email protected]) publishes a change-of-holder option for 2027, you could arrange a bib exchange on Bibready and then complete the official change. With a shared limit of 1,500 runners and no official waiting list announced, if registration sells out, join the waiting list on Bibready by activating a bib alert for the Santander Half Marathon.
