About the race
Swimming in the sheltered waters of Alcúdia Bay, crossing the Serra de Tramuntana by bike and finishing with a run by the sea: IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca is one of the largest middle-distance triathlons in Europe. It is also one of the big dates on the IRONMAN world calendar. General information: - The 2027 edition takes place on Saturday 2027-05-08 in Port d'Alcúdia, in northern Mallorca. - It has been held since 2011, when it drew 1,857 triathletes. Today it has more than 3,500 participants from over 70 countries. - The 15th edition was held in 2026, so 2027 would be the 16th. - It is an official IRONMAN event and may offer slots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. - There are individual and relay entries. Why it is special: - The swim in Alcúdia Bay is one of the friendliest on the circuit, ideal for first-timers at the distance. - The bike leg crosses the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with legendary climbs such as Coll de Femenia and Coll de sa Batalla. - The run is flat and fast, with canals, bridges and views over the bay. - Top professionals take part; in 2024 there were about 80, including Gustav Iden, Patrick Lange and Laura Philipp. - The atmosphere is huge in Pollença, Campanet, Sa Pobla and on the Canal Estany Gran bridge. Courses: - Swim: 1.9 km in a single lap, starting and finishing on Platja d'Alcúdia. - Bike: 90 km in one lap with about 800 m of elevation gain. The first climbs are Coll de Femenia and Coll de sa Batalla (576 m). It passes through Lluc, Campanet and Muro, and from about km 35 it is mostly downhill and fast flats back to T2. - Run: 21.1 km in three laps on a flat course along Platja de Muro and the bay. The finish is a few metres from the beach. Drafting is not allowed, and the bike course is run on closed roads. Timetable: in the 2024 edition the professional men started at 07:35, the professional women at 07:40 and age-groupers from 07:55, with a rolling start from the beach. There is no classic start corral by finishing time: age-groupers start in blocks by expected time. IRONMAN will publish the 2027 schedule and cut-offs in the athlete guide. Registration and prices: registration is on the official IRONMAN website. General entry shows as sold out, although special options such as travel packages or charity entries may be available. 2027 prices cannot be checked in the available sources. Bib pickup: bib collection and bike check-in take place in the days before the race at the IRONMAN Village in Port d'Alcúdia, according to the athlete guide. The Village expo is part of race-week atmosphere, along with IRONKIDS, a non-competitive beach race for children aged 3 to 15. Services: as at every IRONMAN, there are aid stations on the bike and run, live athlete tracking and a finisher medal. The organiser details the other services in the athlete guide: bag storage, recovery area or physiotherapy. Tips: the bike is the key. Train long climbs for Coll de sa Batalla and save energy for a flat half marathon where the May heat and the wind off the bay can bite. Bib exchange: at IRONMAN EMEA a name change or bib change from an individual entry to another person is not allowed. You can only move your entry to another IRONMAN in the same year until 45 days before (2027-03-24). Relay teams can change up to two members until 10 days before. Flex 90 withdrawals are refunded at 50% until four months before and 25% until 45 days before. IRONMAN does not run public waiting lists for this event.
