About the race
The deep valleys of the Sil, ancient chestnut forests and the geological landscapes of the Montañas do Courel Geopark set the scene for the Desafío Xeoparque, the long-distance challenge of the Quiroga Trail Challenge, known as the festival of Galician trail running. The 50 km course climbs around 2,800 metres and reaches 1,150 metres of altitude, a demanding mountain route through the heart of the geopark in the Ribeira Sacra area. The race starts at 08:30 on Saturday 20 February 2027, as part of a weekend packed with trails, night races and walks for all levels. It is a cup-free event, so runners carry their own water reserve and cup.
