About the race
The VIII Anfibios Trail Anna is one of the most unique races in the Valencian running calendar. Held on Saturday, July 4th 2026 in the Paraje Natural de Anna nature reserve (Valencia, Spain), this event combines trail running and open-water swimming in a stunning protected natural environment. Covering 9 kilometres with 160 metres of positive elevation gain, the Anfibios Trail is far more than a mountain race: participants must complete several mandatory swimming sections, with the crossing of Lago de Anna as the highlight — a swim of approximately 70 metres that has become the defining feature of the event. The course winds through iconic landmarks of the nature reserve, including the Fuente de Marzo spring, the Gorgo de la Escalera gorge and the Ruta del Agua trail. Both the start and finish are located at the Albufera de Anna, and the route is marked with biodegradable tape and information panels. Two aid stations offering both food and drink will be available along the course: one at kilometre 4, near Lago de Anna, and another at kilometre 6.To ensure a smooth experience and avoid congestion on the narrower sections, the race uses four staggered wave starts with one hour between each: wave 1 departs at 15:30, wave 2 at 16:30, wave 3 at 17:30 and wave 4 at 18:30. The final rankings are based on absolute net times, regardless of which wave each runner chose.Race registration is open until June 29th 2026, or until places are filled, through the event organiser. Runners can choose between two options: 27 euros including registration and a basic technical t-shirt, or 32 euros including registration and a Wheeler technical t-shirt. As the course includes swimming sections, paper bibs are not used. Instead, the organisation provides an ankle chip with a velcro strap, and the race number is marked directly on the skin. Chip collection takes place at the start and finish area between 13:30 and 18:10 on race day, and a valid ID is required. For bib transfers or name changes, please contact the event organiser directly. The race includes the following categories: Youth (18 to 23 years), Senior (24 to 39 years), Veteran (40 to 49 years), Master (50 and over) and Open, for both men and women. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Open category for men and women, the top three local runners, the top three in each age category, and the top three teams, scored by the five best times regardless of gender. The prize ceremony will take place from 20:30, once the final results are published at 20:00.The Anfibios Trail Anna requires the ability to swim, as the course includes mandatory open-water swimming sections, including the Lago de Anna crossing of approximately 70 metres. Participants are advised to bring trail shoes with good grip, swimming goggles, quick-dry technical clothing and water-resistant sunscreen. The ankle chip is provided by the organisation. For bib transfers or name changes, please contact the event organiser directly.
