The event

Before looking into registration for the 100K Madrid-Segovia Peregrino, it's worth understanding what sets it apart from almost any other ultra-distance event in Spain: it isn't a race, but a non-competitive 102 km hiking pilgrimage that retraces, step by step, the historic Camino de Madrid toward Santiago, following ancient livestock droving roads and stretches of the old Roman road XXIV from the Antonine Itinerary. Organized by Deporama Eventos and Club Deportivo Gladioveja, this modality — sister to the legendary 100K Madrid-Segovia Xtreme — is limited to a maximum of 50 pilgrims per edition, with access exclusively by organizer invitation, prioritizing those who have previously completed this modality or can show a sub-20-hour time in recent Madrid-Segovia editions. The start takes place at 5:00 am on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, on Calle Agustín de Foxá nº2, next to Plaza de Castilla in Madrid, just steps from where Jacobean pilgrims once departed from the Church of Santiago, near the Almudena Cathedral. The 102 km route, with 2,140 meters of accumulated climbing and 1,880 meters of descent, crosses ten municipalities across the provinces of Madrid and Segovia: Tres Cantos, Colmenar Viejo — with its medieval Batán bridge —, Manzanares El Real, at the foot of the imposing Mendoza Castle and La Pedriza, Mataelpino, Navacerrada, and Cercedilla, before tackling the most demanding mountain stretch: the climb to the Fuenfría mountain pass, at nearly 1,800 meters of altitude, along the remains of the Roman road that harvesters and pilgrims used for centuries to cross the Sierra de Guadarrama. After cresting the pass, the nighttime descent leads to Valsaín and, finally, to Segovia, where the finish line awaits at Plaza del Azoguejo, right at the foot of the Roman Aqueduct, one of the best-preserved works of civil engineering from Roman Hispania and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.Unlike the Xtreme modality, the Peregrino doesn't require a medical stress-test certificate and doesn't award ITRA points or an official ranking: participants who finish within the 21-hour time limit appear only in an alphabetical list of finishers, grouped into sub-19h, sub-20h, and sub-21h, with no individual times or trophies. It's essentially a contemplative, personal-achievement experience rather than a competition, in keeping with the original spirit of the Camino de Santiago. Those who complete it still receive a commemorative medal and, once any claims are resolved, an official certificate with their name.Registration for the 2026 edition costs €110 from February 16th through April 30th, rising afterward to €115 and €120 in subsequent tiers, always plus Deporticket management fees. It's a semi-self-sufficient event: the organization sets up 9 liquid and 6 solid aid stations along the route, but each pilgrim must bring their own cup or container — none are handed out anywhere — along with the mandatory gear required by the organizers: headlamp, GPS device with the track loaded, thermal blanket, whistle, a water reservoir of at least 1 liter, cash, and a charged phone, expanding from Cercedilla onward to include a flashing light and warm clothing, given the nighttime mountain stretch still ahead. There's also a full gear-transport service (life bags) to Colmenar Viejo and Cercedilla, plus return buses to Madrid from Segovia, and participants can download the official Pilgrim's Credential to stamp at each checkpoint, as a tangible keepsake of the journey.
