Media Maratón Los Barruecos 2027

In the depths of the Extremadura winter, when the January air is crisp and clean, Malpartida de Cáceres fills with runners. At 11:00, from the Plaza de la Nora, the Media Maratón Los Barruecos gets under way: 21.097 kilometres combining the village streets with dirt tracks in a unique natural setting. The village is known as a European Stork Village and gives the race its name through the Los Barruecos Natural Monument. A race with its own identity In 2027 the Media Maratón Los Barruecos celebrates its 15th edition on Sunday 17 January. It is organised by Malpartida de Cáceres Town Council with the support of Club Atletismo Malpartida Los Barruecos, and every year brings together runners from across the region and beyond in one of the best-loved events on the Extremadura calendar. Participation is capped at 1,200 runners, ensuring a friendly atmosphere and careful organisation. A mixed course of tarmac and dirt The course is urban and interurban, combining tarmac and dirt, with start and finish at the Plaza de la Nora in the heart of Malpartida. It is a course with character, alternating the buzz of the village streets with open countryside in a landscape of dehesa and granite. The time limit is 2 hours 30 minutes, with the finish closing at 13:30. Everything designed around the runner There are water stations at km 5, 10.5 and 15 and at the finish, where food is also served. On race day there is a bag drop from 10:00 to 14:00, showers, parking and chip timing. All participants receive a runner's bag with commemorative gifts and the technical T-shirt, and finishers also receive a bag with food and drinks. A race for everyone Anyone aged 18 or over can take part, with or without a federation licence. Trophies go to the top three in each category, from senior to veterans aged 60 and over, to the top three local runners and to the first man and woman in the inclusive category. The awards ceremony is at 14:15 in the finish area. Bib collection Bibs and T-shirts can be collected on Saturday 16 January, at a place and time to be announced by the organisers, and on race day from 9:00 to 10:30 at the race office tent in the Plaza de la Nora. Entry costs €20 until 27 December (€18 for clubs of more than 10 runners) and €24 from 28 December to 8 January 2027, until the 1,200 bibs are filled.
