About the race
From the mountain village of Tejeda to the dunes and Atlantic coast of Maspalomas, the Transgrancanaria Marathon crosses Gran Canaria from its summits to the sea, one of the most iconic routes of a trail running festival known around the world. The 47 km course climbs to the island's highest point and then descends quickly along technical stretches such as the Camino de La Plata, with 1,784 metres of climbing and 2,800 metres of descent, broken up by aid stations at El Garañón, Tunte and Ayagaures before two gentler climbs lead to the finish at Parque Sur in Maspalomas. The race starts at 09:30 on Friday 2027-02-26 in three waves, with a time limit of 11 hours and 2 ITRA points, and it is part of The Short Series by World Trail Majors. Every runner carries their own cup or container, as there are no cups at the aid stations, and a headlamp is part of the mandatory gear.
Transgrancanaria Marathon name change
Bibs can be transferred to another runner up to 30 days before the race (until 2027-01-27) by emailing [email protected]; no changes are possible after that date. Runners who took out the optional refund insurance at registration can get a refund up to 30 days before the race for documented medical or legal reasons (insurance and management fees are not refunded). Without insurance, the refund is 60% until 2026-08-19, 50% until 2026-10-21 and 40% until 2026-12-23; no refunds after that date. Distance changes are allowed up to 30 days before the race, subject to availability.
