About the race
Pine forests, volcanic ridges and the vast Caldera de Tejeda, which Miguel de Unamuno called a "petrified storm", set the scene for the Transgrancanaria Promo, the gateway to one of the world's great trail running festivals. The 12 km course links Artenara and Tejeda, the two highest villages in Gran Canaria, with 869 metres of climbing and 1,053 metres of descent, crossing the dense pine forest of the Pinos de Gáldar and following a path along the rim of the Caldera de Tejeda. The race starts at 10:30 on Thursday 2027-02-25 from the Plaza de San Matías in Artenara, with an aid station at the Parador de Tejeda and the finish on the main street of Tejeda, and a time limit of 6 hours 30 minutes. It is open to younger runners with parental authorisation, making it a perfect first taste of Transgrancanaria's mountain spirit, and since there are no cups at the aid stations, every runner carries their own cup or container.
